About the Transfer

Außerdem ist das Cover zu #338 "Equinox" [USA 1970, Jack Woods, Dennis Muren (uncredited)] online gestellt worden.
Dieser Film überrascht dann aber doch sehr! Ich kenne ihn nicht, aber besonders hört der sich nicht an. Gedreht wurde er 1967 von Dennis Muren (der später durch seine Arbeit bei ILM bekannt wurde), wurde aber erst 1971 in veränderter Form veröffentlicht. Von IMDb:

Der Film soll großen Einfluß auf Sam Raimi oder Peter Jackson gehabt haben. Ich könnte mir vorstellen, daß beide Schnittfassungen auf der Criterion-DVD enthalten sein werden. Ob der sich aber lohnt, ist eine andere Sache. Kennt ihn jemand?
Eine Kritik ist bei 1000 Misspent Hours zu finden.
Außerdem ist die #336 schon belegt, allerdings wird noch kein Cover angezeigt, was sich aber bald ändern kann.

Hi,
Equinox hab ich mal vor Jahren gesehen, ich weiss aber nicht welche Fassung es war. Hab ihn unterhaltsam in Erinnerung, aber einmal sehen hat bis dato auch gereicht, und das kommt von jemandem der B-Filmen meist grössere Symphatie entgegen bring als andere.
Woher kommt eigentlich die Info das Raimi und Jackson von diesem Film beeinflusst wurden? Ich kann mich nicht erinnern da was bemerkt zu haben, mal von Effekten abgesehen (aber da kann man auch jeden anderen Harryhausen Film nennen), und ich kenn das Frühwerk der beiden eigentlich recht gut.

Ich hatte es öfters aufgeschnappt, daß die beiden davon beeinflußt worden sein sollen und Raimi durch den Film dazu inspiriert wurde, seinen "Evil Dead" zu drehen.
Namen werden zwar nicht genannt, aber auf der Criterion-WebSite wird dies auch genannt:

Zwei weitere schöne Editionen also. Den "Dazed and Confused" habe ich mir bisher immer verkniffen zu kaufen, da keine der DVDs so richtig überzeugend gewesen sein soll und es immer wieder Gerüchte um eine Special Edition gegeben hat. Der "Equinox" hat auch mein Interesse geweckt, denn die Ausstattung macht doch einiges her. Bin mal auf den Film gespannt, aber auf so'n Zeug stehe ich ja irgendwie auch.
Ich finde die Diskussionen im Criterion-Board derzeit auch wieder äußerst amüsant, da gerade diese beiden Titel den angeblichen Niedergang von Criterion belegen sollen, nur weil die Filme, auf die einige User dort warten, nicht veröffentlicht werden. Dann sollen sie die Filme einfach nicht kaufen und basta. Als müßte sich Criterion dafür rechtfertigen, was sie veröffentlichen.

 Ja, aber das ist doch eigentlich FAST jeden Monat so...gleiches sinnloses Geweine kam wenn ich mich recht erinnere sogar bei Jarman, Breillat und immer wieder bei Suzuki.

Das geht mir in dem Forum ebenfalls gehörig auf den Senkel. Werden Bergmans, Fellinis, Bunuels, Kurosawas usw. veröffentlicht, wird sich beschwert, daß die Auswahl an Regisseuren zu eng gesteckt ist. Auf der einen Seite wird das/die angebliche "Eclipse"-Label/-Reihe erwartet, erscheint aber ein Titel wie Equinox, der da perfekt reinpassen würde, innerhalb der Criterion Collection, ist es auch wieder nicht richtig. Die Anzahl der in diesem Jahr veröffentlichten Titel wäre bisher ebenfalls zu gering oder ein paar Titel wurden mal verschoben, was einige dazu veranlasst zu schreiben, daß Masters of Cinema ab nun deren Lieblingslabel wäre. Erstens veröffentlichen die noch weniger DVDs pro Monat und die Termine sind nie sehr sicher, außerdem ist mir noch keine Masters of Cinema DVD untergekommen, die es mit den besten Criterions aufnehmen könnte. Eine wirklich tolle Reihe mit interessanten Filmen, aber überragende Sets wie z.B. Battle of Algiers, F for Fake, Ugetsu, Pickpocket, Fanny and Alexander, John Cassavetes-Box oder Videodrome haben die bisher noch nicht hinbekommen. |

Laut Beaver Review hat "Dazed And Confused" keine Untertitel. Etwas schwach, wie ich finde. Oder wird dort ununterbrochen durcheinander geredet?
