Heute vor 50 Jahren feierte Alfred Hitchcocks schwarz-weißes Meisterwerk “Psycho” [USA 1960] in New York seine Premiere.

Der Tagesspiegel erinnert an Robert Bloch, den Autor des Romans, den Hitchcock filmisch umsetzte. Der Artikel “Iiieek, iiieek, iiieek, iiieek” bei einestages hat den Unterschied zwischen der damaligen Kritikermeinung und dem großen kommerziellen Erfolg zum Thema. Auch die heutige “Kalenderblatt”-Sendung des Deutschlandradio beschäftigt sich mit “Psycho“. Leider sind die “Kalenderblatt”-Sendungen nicht mehr als MP3 abrufbar, man kann den Wortlaut jedoch nachlesen. Bei PopMatters sind innerhalb der elfteiligen “Directors Spotlight: Alfred Hitchcock“-Artikel-Reihe vor fünf Tagen zwei englischsprachige Texte erschienen: “Psycho: The Mother of All Horrors” und “Get Out of the Shower: The ‘Shower Scene’ and Hitchcock’s Narrative Style in Psycho“.

Ein Trailer von Universal zur britischen “Psycho” [USA 1960, Alfred Hitchcock] Blu-ray. In Großbritannien erscheint neben einer regulären Edition auch ein limitiertes Steelbook. Laut Play.com wird die britische Disc eine deutsche Tonspur und deutsche Untertitel aufweisen.

Das British Film Institute (BFI) hat ein ca. 10-minütiges Interview mit Tippi Hedren vom 11. Mai 2010 über die Dreharbeiten von Alfred Hitchcocks “Die Vögel / The Birds” [USA 1963] online gestellt.

Discovered by Alfred Hitchcock after starring in numerous commercials and gaining success as a model, Tippi Hedren is undeniably best known for her iconic roles in two of Hitchcock’s films – The Birds and Marnie. The legendary actor took to the BFI Southbank stage to provide candid insight into her experiences on the sets of these two masterpieces, in an in depth conversation with Adrian Wootton. Die Nachricht, dass Alfred Hitchcocks Klassiker “Psycho” [USA 1960] in den USA am 19. Oktober 2010 auf Blu-ray in den Handel gelangt, habe ich eben erst hier veröffentlicht. Bei BluRay-Disc.de wurde gestern auch schon der Termin für Deutschland bekannt gegeben: Hierzulande wird die HD-Disc schon am 16. September 2010 erscheinen. In Großbritannien liegt der Film sogar bereits ab dem 9. August 2010 in Hi-Def vor.

Hatte ich noch vor wenigen Tagen erst auf eine angeblich im September in Norwegen bevorstehende Blu-ray-Veröffentlichung von Alfred Hitchcocks “Psycho” [USA 1960] verwiesen, da hat Universal auch schon die Details zur amerikanischen “50th Anniversary Edition” veröffentlicht. Hitchs s/w-Klassiker wird am 19. Oktober 2010 veröffentlicht. Der Film wird mit einem neuen 5.1-Mix präsentiert, die originale Mono-Tonspur wird zum Glück aber auch enthalten sein.

Laut eines Artikels der norwegischen WebSite RELEASE.no plant Universal Pictures Norway im September 2010 die Veröffentlichung von Alfred Hitchcocks “Psycho” [USA 1960] auf Blu-ray. Mit Ausnahme der Cover-Abbildung sind dort jedoch keine weiteren Infos zu finden.

Bei amazon.com können die beiden Filme “Psycho” [USA 1960, Alfred Hitchcock] und “Breakfast Club – Der Frühstücks-Club / The Breakfast Club” [USA 1985, John Hughes] auf Blu-ray vorbestellt werden. Zwar werden noch keine Veröffentlichungstermine genannt, über die üblichen Platzhalter von amazon gehen diese beiden Einträge jedoch hinaus, denn die Preise werden bereits genannt, außerdem liegen jeweils schon die “Amazon Standard Identification Numbers” (ASIN) vor. Eine Ankündigung einer Blu-ray von “Psycho” mit einem Termin im Spätsommer/Herbst 2010 konnte für kurze Zeit auch auf der niederländischen WebSite von Universal ausgemacht werden, bei der deutschen FSK wurde im Februar 75 Minuten an Bonusmaterial geprüft:
