Quentin Tarantinos Regiedebut “Reservoir Dogs – Wilde Hunde / Reservoir Dogs” [USA 1992] wird am 20. Oktober 2008 in Großbritannien als limitierte Blu-ray- und DVD-Editionen über Lionsgate erhältlich sein. Als Verpackung wird bei beiden 2-Disc-Sets eine Tin-Box im Stil eines Benzinkanisters verwendet.
Das französische Label Carlotta wird demnächst drei Klassiker auf Blu-ray veröffentlichen. Details dazu sind noch nicht bekannt, bisher konnte ich noch nicht einmal die Termine dafür ausmachen.
“Frau ohne Gewissen / Double Indemnity / Assurance Mort” [USA 1944, Billy Wilder]
Bei DVD-Times wurden die Details zur DVD und Blu-ray von “Sun taam / Mad Detective” [HK 2007, Johnny To, Ka-Fai Wai] vom Eureka-Unterlabel Masters of Cinema veröffentlicht. Das Bonusmaterial der beiden Veröffentlichungen wird identisch ausfallen. Außerdem plant MoC am 20. Oktober 2008, dem Erscheinungsdatum der Discs, auf maddetective.com einige Online-Extras freizuschalten:

Das British Film Institute (BFI) wird am 20. Oktober 2008 diese DVDs veröffentlichen:

- “Killer of Sheep” [USA 1977, Charles Burnett]
- “My Brothers Wedding” [USA 1983, Charles Burnett]
Bisher ist nur bekannt, daß der Antonioni-Film als 2-DVD-Set und als Blu-ray erscheinen wird. Weitere Infos zu den Titeln liegen noch nicht vor.
Derzeit bricht der aktuelle Batman-Film “The Dark Knight” [USA 2008, Christopher Nolan] einen Umsatzrekord nach dem anderen an den US-amerikanischen Kinokassen. Bis zum Start in Deutschland ist es noch etwas hin, denn hierzulande flimmert er erst ab dem 21. August 2008 über die Leinwände. Area-DVD spekuliert derweil, ob DVD- und Blu-Ray-Veröffentlichungen des Films in einigen Ländern bereits schon im Dezember 2008 anstehen werden, denn bei amazon.de wird bereits eine britische Import-Blu-ray von Warner Bros. mit dem 8. Dezember 2008 als VÖ-Termin geführt.

Legendary director Carl Theodor Dreyer leads the viewer, as though guided in a trance, through a realm akin to a waking-dream, a zone positioned somewhere between reality and the supernatural.
Traveller Allan Gray (arrestingly depicted by Julian West, aka the secretive real-life Baron Nicolas de Gunzburg) arrives at a countryside inn seemingly beckoned by haunted forces. His growing acquaintance with the family who reside there soon opens up a network of uncanny associations between the dead and the living, of ghostly lore and demonology, which pull Gray ever deeper into an unsettling, and upsetting, mystery. At its core: troubled Gisèle, chaste daughter and sexual incarnation, portrayed by the great, cursed Sybille Schmitz (Diary of a Lost Girl, and inspiration for Fassbinder’s Veronika Voss.) Before the candles of Vampyr exhaust themselves, Allan Gray and the viewer alike come eye-to-eye with Fate — in the face of dear dying Sybille, in the blasphemed bodies of horrific bat-men, in the charged and mortal act of asphyxiation — eye-to-eye, then, with Death — the supreme vampire.
Deemed by Alfred Hitchcock ‘the only film worth watching… twice’, Vampyr’s influence has become, by now, incalculable. Long out of circulation in an acceptable transfer, The Masters of Cinema Series is proud to present Dreyer’s truly terrifying film in its film restored form for the first time in the UK.
