Kino on Video / Kino International hat über Facebook bekannt gegeben, dass innerhalb einer neuen “Kino Classics”-Reihe Sergej Eisensteins Stummfilm “Streik / Stachka / Strike” [UdSSR 1925] am 30. August 2011 in den USA auf Blu-ray erscheinen wird.

Kino Classics — a newly launched Kino Lorber brand specializing in classic films — will release Sergei Eisenstein’s STRIKE on Blu-ray and DVD on August 30.

This edition was mastered in HD from a 35mm film element restored by the Cinémathèque de Toulouse, with a newly-recorded score by the Mont Alto Motion Picture Or…chestra, adapted largely from the works of traditional Russian composers.

Special features include Eisenstein’s long-lost first short GLUMOV’S DIARY and a video essay by historian Natacha Laurent, placing Eisenstein’s work in the context of the Communist revolution and contemporary Soviet filmmaking.
