war-requiem-rc2-gb-second-sightWar Requiem” [GB 1989, Derek Jarman]
20th Anniversary Edition

A film by Derek Jarman
Composed and Conducted by Benjamin Britten

Nathaniel Parker • Tilda Swinton • Sean Bean
Owen Teale
and featuring Laurence Olivier
as ‘the old soldier’

“Jarman’s finest achievement”
Philip French, The Observer

Derek Jarman creates a visual evocation of the legendary original recording of Benjamin Britten’s choral masterpiece which blended the Latin Mass of the Dead with the poignant poetry of Wilfred Owen, Britain’s greatest chronicler of the Great War. Dramatised scenes featuring spell-binding performances from an extraordinary cast are interwoven with cinematic, poetic images and harrowing archive footage which all serve to recreate the horrors of 20th century wars - the loss of innocence, the unbearable suffering, the nightmares, the tragic waste of life. Critically-acclaimed on its release, Derek Jarman’s War Requiem is perhaps the visionary director’s greatest film. As a testament to the futility of war it is a unique, unforgettable poignant and haunting experience.

SPECIAL FEATURES:
- Remastered from a new High Defintion transfer
- Remastered audio of original Decca recording
- The Making of War Requiem: Features interviews with Tilda Swinton, Nathaniel Parker and Don Boyd
- Audio commentary with producer Don Boyd

30th Anniversary Edition

Starring Eric Idle • Neil Innes
Rikki Fataar • John Halsey

Special appearances by
George Harrison · Mick Jagger · Paul Simon · Ron Wood · John Belushi • Dan Aykroyd · Gilda Radner · Bill Murray and many others

This is the legendary story of four mop-topped scousers that changed the face of music in the 60’s. RonNasty, Dirk McQuickly, Stig O’Hara and Barry Wom, collectively, The Rutles. From the Hamburg days where they found themselves ‘far from home and far from talented’, through the recording of their classic albums ‘Sgt Rutter’s Only Darts Club Band’, ‘Let it Rot’ to the experimentation with tea, the artistic differences and the inevitable split. Relive the phenomenon of the pre-fab four who won over the world with their catchy tunes, whacky humour and tight trousers.
Relive Rutlemania!

SPECIAL FEATURES:
- Transfer featuring previously unavailable scenes
- Further deleted scenes
- Eric Idle commentary
- Eric Idle introduction
