Jean Renoirs “French Can Can / French Cancan” [F / I 1954] wird am 7. November 2011 beim British Film Institute (BFI) als “Dual Format Edition” erscheinen. Eine neue digitale Restaurierung des Films wurde bereits im August 2010 beim französischen Label Gaumont auf Blu-ray veröffentlicht. Obwohl die Disc in den meisten Kritiken überaus positiv bewertet wurde, habe ich meine Probleme mit der Scheibe, da sie gerade in dunklen Bildpartien dazu neigt, im Schwarz abzusaufen.

Es ist anzunehmen, dass das BFI auf das selbe Master zurückgreifen wird. Daher ist zu hoffen, dass dieser Fehler nicht bereits Bestandteil des Masters ist, sondern sich erst beim Encoding der französischen Blu-ray eingeschlichen hat.
