Hi,

The Forgotten Films of Roscoe "Fatty" Arbuckle

Starring : Roscoe Arbuckle, Buster Keaton, Charlie Chaplin, Mabel Norman, Harold Lloyd and others

Restoration Director : Paul E. Gierucki

Executive Producer : William Hunt

Produced by: Laughsmith Entertainment, Inc.

Synopsis
The Forgotten Films of Roscoe "Fatty" Arbuckle contains 32 classic silent and sound comedies directed by and starring master filmmaker Roscoe Arbuckle.

The "Prince of Whales" is also joined by some of the silver screen's most legendary stars including Buster Keaton, Charlie Chaplin, Mabel Normand, Harold Lloyd, Ford Sterling, Douglas Fairbanks, Rudolph Valentino, child star Jackie Coogan, and some unjustly forgotten comic luminaries like Al St. John, Mack Swain, Edgar Kennedy, Charley Chase, Monty Banks, Lloyd Hamilton, Lupino Lane and, of course, Arbuckle's multi-talented canine companion Luke.

Restored and digitally remastered from original archival materials, or the only known surviving print, each film features completely restored titles, intertitles, and several films include previously lost or alternate footage. Silent titles feature newly created scores from Philip Carli, David Drazin, Ben Model, The Mont Alto Orchestra, The Paragon Ragtime Orchestra, Rodney Sauer and Donald Sosin.

This 4 DVD set is a long overdue celebration of the life and work of funny man Roscoe Arbuckle.

Zitat:
Although Laughsmith Entertainment has gone to great lengths to find the best possible sources, unfortunately, with the scandal virtually ending Arbuckle's career and his films being pulled from distribution, countless of his films have been lost, and the ones that still exist are in poor condition, many with quite a bit of damage. Also, the films that have been rediscovered from foreign sources had inserted foreign-language intertitles, and Laughsmith has been forced to reproduce the original titles, and though they've done it quite well, the difference in picture quality is startling (though one could hardly have expected them to damage them!).

...

As mentioned above, the sources are in substandard condition. However, great care has been taken in transferring the films to DVD, carefully balancing the contrast so that the films are free of the blooming of white areas that often mars transfers of older films. While you can clearly see all of the scratches and other wear and tear, you can also clearly see the picture.

The audio is excellent, with rich full-bodied tone quality and pure fidelity. The bass is strong.

Hi,

Etwas ältere News zu kommenden Laughsmith Sachen, aber da ich sie nicht kannte und sehr erfreulich finde, poste ich es mal:

On Digital Bits, Barrie Maxwell's column, Dec 22nd, this item appears:

**************************
The date for Laughsmith's previously announced Fatty Arbuckle
collection is now set as April 15th. The company also has future plans
for four collections including Industrial Strength Keaton, The Mack
Sennett Collection, The W.C. Fields Collection, and The Mabel Normand
Collection. There is no information on specific content or projected
release dates as yet.
