About the Transfer
Le plaisir is presented in its original aspect ratio of 1.33:1. On widescreen televisions, black bars will appear on the left and right of the image to maintain the proper screen format. The picture has been slightly window-boxed to ensure that the maximum image is visible on all monitors. This new high-definition digital transfer was created on a Spirit Datacine from a 35 mm fine-grain master positives. Thousands of instances of dirt, debris, and scratches were removed using the MTI Digital Restoration System. To maintain optimal image quality through the compression process, the picture on this dual-layer DVD-9 was encoded at the highest-possible bit rate for the quantity of material included.
The soundtrack was mastered at 24-bit from an optical track print, and audio restoration tools were used to reduce clicks, pops, hiss, and crackle. The Dolby Digital 1.0 signal will be directed to the center channel on surround sound systems, but some viewers may prefer to switch to two-channel playback for a wider dispersal of the mono sound. |

Das DVDBeaver-Review ist da. Aber dass die Kaufentscheidung so schwer fallen würde, hätte ich nicht gedacht. Die Pal-DVD von Second Sight ist der klare Gewinner bei der Bildqualität.

| Also, bei mir ist die Kaufentscheidung gefallen: Ich werde mir jetzt doch die Second Sight-Disc holen. Auf die hatte ich bisher verzichtet, weil es immer hieß, daß eine DVD seitens Criterion möglich wäre. Wenn ich das bei DVDBeaver sehe, hätte ich mir die PAL-Ausgabe schon bedeutend früher kaufen können. Im Bereich der Extras scheint mir die britische ebenfalls interessanter zu sein, alleine schon wegen der 54-minütigen Dokumentation. Oder doch lieber auf eine eventuelle Blu-ray von Criterion warten? Aber wer weiß, wann die mal erscheinen wird. |
